Prominent construction company donates funds to local middle school charity tournament

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Venture Construction Group sponsored the 16th annual 4 on 4 For A Cure fundraiser at Colonial Middle School to raise money and awareness for ALS research. The basketball tournament was held March 7-15, with 364 students in grades 6-8 participating to raise funds for ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter. Venture Construction Group sponsored the event, donated raffle prizes, and provided a fun photo booth for the students to commemorate the experience.

4 on 4 for a Cure is one of the largest school events in Delaware Valley, raising money for the ALS Association. All event proceeds are dedicated to finding a cure for the disease. The popular fundraiser is structured similar to the NCAA basketball tournaments. On the last day of the tournament, a “final four” is reached and a team for each grade level is crowned champion. Each year, students learn the importance of teamwork, organization, and fundraising while showcasing their basketball skills to raise money for a good cause. To add to the fun factor, each team names themselves after a current phone app. The 2016 theme was it’s a “Sweet 16th Appiversary”. The 2016 first place winners include: 6th Grade: Emoji’s; 7th Grade Uber; 8th Grade: Uber.

“This fundraiser is an experience that brings out the spirit in Colonial Middle School like no other event. We are so happy to support the ALS association. We’re grateful for our student’s excitement and spirit of giving, and for our volunteers and business supporters in the community like Venture Construction Group who help make this a real success every year,” says Hoops for Hope Faculty Sponsor Matt Doroshow.

4 on 4 for a Cure raises money via player registration fees, snack bar sales during the event, and donations. Registration is $15 per student; $60 per team; and $5 for attendees. Each participant receives a T-shirt and a bracelet. The school is selling commemorative hoodies until June 1 to raise more funds for ALS research. Cost is $20 per hoodie or three for $50.
